Kirby Star Allies AR Lens

For this assignment, we needed to implement image or target tracking AR capabilities and animate a 3D object within Lens Studio. I wanted to apply this as a marketing tool for video game covers, album covers, movie posters, and more, so I decided to have my effect track the Kirby Star Allies cover art.

Try it out by scanning the Snapcode, clicking the image, or using this link!

Features: Image tracking, 3D animations, particle effects, helper UI

About the Lens:

Image tracking tracks content to a unique physical image. For this effect, I used the art on the cover of the Kirby Star Allies game for Nintendo Switch. When the image is detected, the cover shatters, allowing Kirby to float up and dance around! To add more of an immersive feel, I also added bokeh light particle effects to the background.

How to use:

Use Snapchat to open the Lens and point your camera to the Kirby Star Allies game cover or an image of it, then watch Kirby float!

Helper UI:

When opened, the image you need to find will appear on the screen, but goes away when you press record or when you find the correct image. This is to help the user know which image they are searching for if they have never used this lens before.

Try out the lens yourself!
