OCTOBER 2021
Squid Game AR Lens
Features: Face/head tracking & segmentation, face triggers, 3D animation, audio effects
About the Lens:
Background - In Squid Game, players are given a childhood playground game to play in order to win money. If they lose the game, they are “eliminated”. For my effect, I wanted to use the game Freeze Dance since it wasn’t used in the show.
Face Triggers - With Lens Studio, you are able to track the actions of a user’s face and can detect things like opening or closing the mouth, raising eyebrows, smiling, etc. My effect uses mouth opening and closing as triggers for my animations.
Description - On opening the lens, the soldier is ready for action and the player is visibly frightened while intense music plays in the background. When the user opens her mouth, the iconic lines from the “Red Light, Green Light” scene plays and both the soldier and the player begin dancing. Right when the user closes her mouth, the music stops and the soldier stops dancing but the player misses the beat, causing him to be “eliminated”. He will no longer dance again, but the soldier is in it to win it!
How to use:
Point the camera at your face or a friend’s. When the person’s mouth opens, the game begins!
